About Me

When I'm not spending time on my classes or extracurricular projects, you can find me doing plenty of other things, ranging from binge-watching movies to playing soccer to trying out new restaurants with friends!

Movies

My love for movies stems from a childhood tradition: every Friday and Saturday, my dad and I would stay up late and watch a movie together. It was always random and was almost always an action movie or a thriller. From Marvel's The Avengers to the Mission Impossible franchise, I fell in love with movies. I was especially interested in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Iron Man was actually the reason I became fascinated with engineering). As I grew older, I branched out to other genres like comedy, horror, and romance. I also started enjoying TV Shows, my all-time favorite of which is Game of Thrones. Today, movies and TV shows are my favorite comfort activity; an occasional escape from the real world.

Soccer

In addition to following the English Premiere League, I love playing soccer. I played soccer recreationally almost every day in high school, but I first got involved in school sports competitions in my junior year of high school. I tried out for my school's soccer team in both my freshman and sophomore years, but I didn't qualify. I finally made the cut in my junior year and played as a goal keeper.

I got the opportunity to play against other high school teams and my love for the sport deepened, as did my connection to my teammates (who were also my close friends). Transitioning to Yale, I continued playing soccer at the intramural (IM) level and I hope to keep playing the sport for years to come!

Chess

Unlike some of the other interests on this page, I got into chess relatively recently (senior year of high school). My friends and I would play games during lunch breaks and after school. My school's first chess club was founded that same year, and I was happy to play with friends, acquaintances, and different students from different grade levels. I slowly began appreciating the art of the game. Playing chess has taught me a great deal, especially about self-accountability and patience. Now, I mostly play chess for fun online, or sometimes face-to-face with friends after a long day of classes.
